Villa Margaretha is a centrally located three-star hotel in the heart of historic Tartu. This quaint art nouveau hotel was built in the early 1900s has been fully restored to its former glory.
The perfect place for a romantic weekend, this stylish hotel provides guests with pillow topped sleigh beds, free-standing claw foot bath tub in one of seventeen spacious and classically decorated rooms. A small kitchenette in the suite offers guests room to prepare snacks. Located on a quiet street in Tartu its proximity to the Old Town provides the benefit of walking distance without the hustle and bustle that often comes with a centrally located hotel.
Fully licensed and equipped with an onsite restaurant, Villa Margaretha ensures guests start their day off right by providing a free buffet breakfast each morning. Continental or more hearty options, breakfast is an array of local and continental options including locally sourced salmon and herring. Also open for lunch and dinner, the restaurant is tucked away in the basement, the stone walls adorned with local art creates an intimate feel.
The hotel is well positioned for anyone visiting Tartu, with close proximity to Tartu Town Hall, Tartu Art College and Estonian National Museum. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed with reception operational 24/7 and run by friendly accommodating multilingual staff. Staff will happily provide maps and recommendations for things to do and experiences in the local area.
Notable mentions are the convenient on-site private parking provides a hassle free option for guests arriving by car, as well as the free WiFi is fast and freely available throughout the hotel. If I had more time in Tartu I would have liked to take advantage of the Julius Chamber sauna which can accommodate up to 12 people.
Overall this hotel is very good value for money.
